Biography:Yessy Gomez
Classes: Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap at both the competitive and recreational levels
Experience: Yessy was born into a performing arts family of 6, beginning dance lessons at the age of 2. After transferring studios at age 4, She danced competitively in tap, jazz and lyrical for several years. Always passionate about dance, when not in class, Yessy continued pursuing dance on her own terms--watching videos, learning from others around, and making up dances on her own. As a young adult she was immediately noticed for her unique style of fusing several dance styles and was then queried about interest in teaching. She accepted, and spent many years educating herself as well as learning how to perfect her style and craft. She has traveled far to gain expert knowledge from the best such as Wade Robson, Rhapsody, Brian Friedman, Tovaris Wilson, Ciao, Bev B., Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Brian Green, Yeya, Luther Brown, Marty Dew, Jed Florano and Jon Quemado, and has also taught all over Michigan, Ohio, Connecticut and Florida.
As Yessy enters her 11th year of dance education she has also achieved many accomplishments including running a successful hip hop dance crew (Urban Dynasty Krew), receiving numerous special awards and overalls at competitions and conventions, recorded several industrial music videos under the direction of Glenn Douglas Packard, Melissa Smith, and Gerard Heintz, becoming a finalist for Beyonce's UK and Spain tour, and being featured on seasons 3 and 4 of the Fox television show "So You Think You Can Dance." Yessy looks forward to continuing her journey as she strives to make her dreams of dance and life a reality. She will graduate from GRCC this winter with an associates in business, and has many big plans for her future, so keep an eye out for her!
